Can Fast Oil Change Places Be Trusted?
Many people have no idea or lack any time to change the oil on their car so they take it to those quick oil change shops. The question is can these people be trusted. I would recommend that you stay away from these quick oil change places and find a legitimate auto mechanic instead and I'll explain why.
You're probably aware that your car owners manual will give you a break down on what things need to be done after so many miles of driving. You have scheduled upkeep for things like air filter change or an oil change. Even so have you ever really looked through the manual on your car? One thing is that your manual will not declare that your car will need to have its oil changed every 3000 miles. The truth is if you look in your book you may find that you only have to change your oil every 6,000 or even 7,000 miles. So, as you think about this, these speedy oil change places are lying to you so they can take your money.
Also if you read through your owners manual you can see a schedule for changing your air filter. Regarding my car it is suggested to change my air filter every 2 years or when it is stopped up. In my situation, the air filter continued to looked pretty good after four years but I opted to change it anyway just in case. But, anytime I would head over to these quick oil change places, they would tell me I would need a new air filter. Six months after I changed the air filter by myself, I took my car to one of these oil change places and I was told that my air filter needed to be changed. There seemed to be a very light discoloration and I was informed that it was at the first stages of clogging. But, I told them that I swapped out the filter just six months ago and their answer was that I would need to change it in another six months.
Specifically what annoyed me was that they initially explained to me that the filter had to be changed. Consequently once I told them about the new air filter, they changed their answer. This is just 100 % dishonesty followed by covering their butt's.
There was once where these people changed my transmission fluid. Almost any time you visit these places, they will let you know that your transmission fluid will also need to be changed. Once, when they explained to me, I allowed them to do it. Three months later on, when I went back to get an oil change, they tried to tell me the transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed again. Needless to say, that was the last time I went to these unethical places.
We've since located an honest mechanic and I don't bring my cars elsewhere anymore. Something you should consider is that the workers of the oil change places don't need to go to school to tell you what you need to have done to your car. While a certified mechanic has received the proper education.
